  3. Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 m) to Tadapani (2,630 m)

    • Distance: ~12 km (including Poon Hill side hike)

    • We started before dawn for sunrise at Poon Hill—one of the best panoramic viewpoints in the region.

  4. Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940 m)

    • Distance: ~8 km

    • A peaceful downhill walk through forest trails and open clearings.

  5. Ghandruk to Nayapul

    • Distance: ~13 km

    • The final day was gentle and scenic, with rice fields and terraced hills.

Altitudes Along the Trail

  • Nayapul: 1,070 m

  • Ulleri: 2,050 m

  • Ghorepani: 2,860 m

  • Poon Hill: 3,210 m

  • Tadapani: 2,630 m

  • Ghandruk: 1,940 m

The altitude changes are mild compared to high Himalayan treks, which makes this route perfect for beginner trekkers or those looking for a shorter escape.

Reading the Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek Map

The map we used had trails, village names, altitudes, rest points, and forest cover. Contour lines helped us judge the steepness of climbs, and small icons marked tea houses and viewpoints. Using the map, we could estimate how long each stretch might take and when to expect the next village.

We carried both a paper map and a mobile version offline. During foggy sections near Ghorepani, it was handy to double-check the route.

Favorite Part of the Trek

For me, the sunrise from Poon Hill was the top moment. We reached the viewpoint early, with headlamps lighting the way, and watched as the peaks of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre lit up slowly. That quiet, glowing moment—what I call a sunblush—was worth every step.
